“Soundwalk along the Water” was a sound recording workshop presented as part of DARE-DARE’s 2023 programming. Held along the Lachine Canal in Montreal, participants walked beside the water, capturing a range of aquatic sounds—from the gentle flow of the canal to the small waterfall at the lock. Using hydrophones and binaural microphones, they explored underwater listening and immersive 3D sound. The recordings collected during the workshop were later used to create a three-dimensional soundscape. Together, we also shared personal stories and reflections about our relationships with water.
