Amniotic River is a sound performance that explores the deep relationship between water, body, and memory. Drawing from field recordings collected across rivers and coastal landscapes, the work unfolds as an immersive auditory experience that evokes the sensation of floating, drifting, and being held within water.
The performance reflects on the idea of “maternal water”, the amniotic environment that surrounds us before birth and its connection to natural bodies of water such as rivers and seas. Through layered sounds of currents, subtle vibrations, and rhythmic pulses, Amniotic River invites listeners to return to an embodied state of listening, where boundaries between self and environment begin to dissolve.
This project was part of an exchange residency between Avatar Centre / Mois Multi and the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ) in Quebec, and the Eufònic Festival in Catalonia.
